All boys and Girls in the Junior School receive tuition
in the use of IT. Lessons take place in the Junior IT Centre using N computing
compatible PCs that are linked into the College’s main network. There are
sufficient machines in the centre to allow each boy to have his own computer
and thus spend as much time as possible in ‘hands-on’ learning. All
Junior School classrooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard and two
PCs whilst the Library has five PCs. There are also two class sets of netbooks
which can be used in an ordinary classroom to enhance other subjects.
The boys are taught to use core applications such as
word processors, databases etc. on standard software packages. In addition they
use programs that have been written more specifically for certain curriculum
areas. In this way their IT skills are used to enhance learning in many other
subjects as IT is integrated across the curriculum.
